Nutrition Game Reflection

I had a lot of trouble with the scoring when creating this game. My game tends to freeze a lot and I don't know if it is the scratch program or something I did but over all besides the scoring I really liked creating this game.

Nutrition Game

Final Reflection

To begin my game I first had to have an objective so I figured I would do a maze, so when I was coming up with a layout I used blocks to create the maze feeling. I needed to make sure that the sprite was unable to walk right though the blocks so I had to use a sensing block which was the hardest part of the project for me. I could not seem to make the block work. At first I couldn't figure out how to change the colors of the sensing block to match the color of my sprite and the maze blocks. To work through this problem I went to the youtube links on scratch that we watched in class and sure enough the answer was right in the video. The very first time I tested my game I could not get the levels to change when I reached the finish point of the first level. My game was not working as I intended it to. I kept playing the game hoping the level would change when I reached the finishing point but nothing happened, so I finally went back and reviewed my script. When I went back to my script I realized I was missing the sensing block I needed, so I added it in and my game was complete. I am very proud of my final project. I came into this class with no knowledge what so ever on scratch and now I am able to make games.

Final Unit Project For Scratch

The Purpose of my game is to make it from the start to the finish without touching any of the blocks. For Sprite I will use the girl who is in running position, create blocks, and apples. Since I am creating a maze game I will make the background out of blocks. The scoring is simple for everytime you touch the blocks a point is taken away, but for everytime you touch an apple a point is added. The apples will be moving all over the page so it will be hard to get them. When you reach the finish line if you ave 10 points you win. When Someone wins the game will congradulate you and then you move on to the next level. Thier are ten levels as the game advances the number of blocks increase and the apples are harder to get. To make the apples harder to get the will be moving faster and all around the game. The increase of the number of blocks will make it hard to contain points.

Fish Chomp Remix Reflection

I had a hard time at first setting up the score but once I figured it out I was pretty much all set for the rest of the project. I now find it easy to find my way around scratch so changing sprites, movements, and backdrops are easy to me.

Alphabet Reflection

I came across more obstacles than usual while trying to create this game. I could not seem to figure out how to find the block "when _ is press" and I needed it for this assignment. I also had a hard time changing costumes but I realized that it was just a formatting error with the blocks. Once I found the block and fix my formatting I was able to fly along with the project because I am becoming more familiar with scratch and its possibilities.

Scratch Name Reflection

I liked the name activity on scratch because it gave us a lot of freedom. I liked being able to use my creativity to design my name in scratch. Since my name is long I got to have many different varieties between letters.

Scratch: Name

Scenes Reflection

Stage in sprites are very similar they can be changed multiple times throughout a skit. They can also be drawn or uploaded. It is really easy to create your own sprite as it is backdrops. The possibilities are endless when using scratch. While reviewing other project I saw that no two projects were the exact same in terms of sprites and backgrounds. Many people changed there backgrounds along with sprites as their projects continued. Beside animation projects I might also use scene changes in a spanish, history, or chemistry projects. I would use the backdrops as slides and then change them like a power point.

Conversations reflection

The broadcast block is in some ways similar to the "make a block". You would use the broad cast block when you want to add a long sequence of blocks multiple time, so you would just name the sequence and then when you have the broadcast block you type in the name of the sequence.

Characters Reflection

"Make a Block" is a very efficient way to create blocks with multiple commands all under one block. "Make a Block" is used when you want a character to follow a long list of commands and also want it to follow other short list of commands but then repeat the long list. You would just put the long list into a make a block so anytime you use the one block that you made your long list of commands would be happening. I loved using "Make a Block" because it makes the scratching process much simpler.

Debug It reflection

Doing this assignment helped me further more understand the setup of scratch and the possibilities it has. I also know that all mistakes that are made can be fixed. I can't wait to apply my knew knowledge of scratch in week two.
